The Boundary Dam CCS Project rebuilt a coal–fired generation unit with carbon capture technology, resulting in low–emission power generation. In the fall of 2014, the project came online as the world’s first post–combustion coal–fired CCS project. This project transformed the aging unit #3 at Boundary Dam Power Station near Estevan, Saskatchewan into a reliable, long–term producer of 120 megawatts (MW) of base–load electricity, capable of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by one million tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) each year, the equivalent of taking more than 250,000 cars off Saskatchewan roads annually. The captured CO2 is sold and transported by pipeline to nearby oil fields in southern Saskatchewan where it will be used for enhanced oil recovery.

The “eHEnergizer” PHE is specifically designed for safe and reliable ignition of small gas fired burners for process heaters, boilers and other combustion equipment typically found in refineries and gas plants. The system is designed to fit into existing pilots making them ideal for both retrofit and new installations. CSI is the lead proponent on the Submerged Combustion Vaporizer for Heating and Pressurizing Hydrocarbon Reservoirs project.

Field Upgrading is a Canadian company based in Calgary, Alberta, dedicated to the development and commercialization of a new sulphur removal and upgrading technology called DSU®.
Field Upgrading is a pre–commercial company engaged in the development and commercialization of a new bitumen and heavy oil upgrading technology called De–Sulphurization & Upgrading (DSU). DSU uses molten sodium to significantly reduce the levels of sulphur, metals, acid (TAN) and asphaltenes in heavy oil feedstocks, including oil sands bitumen. DSU increases the API gravity of the feedstocks while achieving a relatively higher yield compared to conventional upgrading technologies, reducing the need for diluent for pipeline transportation. Applications for DSU include heavy oil, refining, oil shale producers and low sulphur bunker fuel.
